Astra Sibiu - Memorial
An interactive testimony installation housed within a historic farmhouse at ASTRA Open-Air Museum, Sibiu. Visitors encounter the faces and voices of the people who once lived and worked there — farmers, their daily rituals, their tools, their land.
A site-specific interactive installation commissioned for a historic farmhouse within the ASTRA National Museum Complex in Sibiu, Romania — one of the largest open-air ethnographic museums in Europe.
The installation takes the form of a custom-fabricated steel kiosk, powder-coated in pale blue, housing circular porthole displays embedded flush into its surface. Each portal presents a face — a former inhabitant of the house — alongside their testimony: fragments of daily life, agricultural work, seasonal rhythms, domestic memory. A floor plan on the kiosk surface orients visitors within the space, marking their current location with a red dot.
The piece is designed to dissolve the boundary between the preserved object and the living person — turning a museum artifact into a site of encounter with the people whose hands shaped it.
